About Bouley Bay Books

Hatched in Lockdown

Banned by lockdown in Sydney from meeting in person, writers Mick Le Moignan and Natalie Scott exchanged manuscripts, Mick’s first novel, The English Teacher, and Natalie’s latest collection of short stories, Wobbly Truths & other stories.

Natalie, approaching her prime (at 93) mentioned how tiresome she found it, having written many books for both adults and children, to persuade publishers and agents to look at her latest work. Mick said: ‘These stories are brilliant! You shouldn’t be chasing publishers: they should be chasing you. If you really can’t find one, I’ll publish it for you myself.’ Natalie replied: ‘Only if you publish your novel as well!”

So that was how Bouley Bay Books came into being. Named after a northern beach in Mick’s childhood home, the island of Jersey, the immediate focus is the Northern Beaches of Sydney, home to many gifted artists and writers. The first two books are available now, in local bookshops and online on Booktopia, World of Books, Amazon, etc. or direct from Bouley Bay Books.  Wholesale discounts apply for bookshops, who can order from IngramSpark or Bouley Bay Books.
